The Wuling Mini EV Macaron Edition is a special edition of the Wuling Mini EV. About the name: Wuling Mini EV is the English name. The Chinese name is a bit more complicated: 五菱宏光MINIEV, Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, with the latter part spelled in capitals. Hongguang (宏光) is a historical Wuling name, used in many combinations for various vehicles since the early 2000s.

The Marcaron Edition was inspired by a French kind of sweet cookie. It had Macaron lettering on the B-pillar and the soft-tone exterior colors were similar to the colors of the cookies.

The interior of the Mini EV is super cool, check out the long and winding air vent that runs from the middle to the passenger’s side. It has a digital driver’s display and a simple set of buttons for the air conditioning and the audio. The drive selector dial and the window switches are located in a pod between the sets. The owner of this particular car added a set of seat covers and a cabin-wide floor mat.

The Wuling Mini EV Macaron Edition is powered by a single electric motor over the rear axle. Output is 27 hp and 85 Nm. The top speed is 100 km/h. It is a siny vehicle: 2920/1493/1621, 1940. The curb weight is only 665 kg, a lightweight compared to other small Chinese EVs.

When new, the Wuling Mini EV Macaron Edition sold for 43.800 yuan ($6175), which made it one of the cheapest EVs on the Chinese car market. The Mini EV may seem ‘just’ a city car, but in China, it is classified as a full-fledged automobile, which means it is allowed on the highway.

Wuling is a brand under SGMW, a joint venture between SAIC, General Motors, and Guangxi Auto (previously: Wuling Automobile). The characters are 上汽通用五菱, Shangqi (SAIC), Tongyong (GM), and Wuling.

Such a great and important electric car in China. But,  guess, when you own one it is just a car, and, in this case, one that needs an urgent wash.
