Here we have a Nissan Teana 75 Years Anniversary Edition, seen in the summer of 2018 in east Beijing. The good Nissan was in fine shape, painted black, like almost all of them were, and fitted with the original multispoke alloy wheels. Note the Beijing-Jeep 2500 on the left side.
The first generation Nissan Teana was a mid-size sedan. It was produced in China by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture from 2004 until 2007. It was a pretty and popular car, one of the best-selling Nissans at the time. My boss had one, it was very comfortable and spacious inside.
The first-generation Teana went out with a bang, with the Nissan 75th Anniversary Edition, launched in late 2007 for the 2008 model year. This special edition commemorated 75 years of Nissan (1933-2008). There were specials like this across the entire Nissan lineup in China. It came with fancy gold-colored badges on the D-pillar, with black text.
The Nissan Teana Nissan 75th Anniversary Edition was based on the mid-range Teana 230 JM Premium. It was loaded with luxurious beige leather, beige trim, and wood trim on the dashboard and doors. Equipment included an electric sunroof, power seats, a seven-speaker sound system with a multi-disc CD player, and an infotainment system.
Lots of legroom in the back! The Nissan Teana Nissan 75th Anniversary Edition was powered by a 2.3-liter VQ23DE V6 engine with an output of 173 hp and 221 Nm. Power went to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The top speed was 198 km/h and 0-100 took a relaxed 10.4 seconds.
The Teana was marketed as a luxury sedan. It had a lot of shiny bits, with chrome trim over the doors, the bumpers, around the windows, and on the boot lid. It also had two exhaust pipes, albeit rather small ones.
The characters write: 东风日产, Dōngfēng Rìchǎn, Dongfeng-Nissan.
Much more shiny at the front, with chrome in the bumpers and a shipload in the grille. The Nissan Teana Nissan 75th Anniversary Edition was not a limited-edition model, it was on sale for quite a while so these are not super rare. But still, it sure is a special Japanese sedan in China.
