Avatr 11 Is A Futuristic Space Ship EV From China

Avatr 11.

Here’s an Avatr 11, a futuristic electric car that looks like a spaceship from the future. I saw this Bright White example in Beijing in the summer of 2024, right after a rainstorm.

Avatr is a Chinese electric vehicle brand. The Chinese name is 阿维塔 (Āwéitǎ). Avatr was founded in 2018. The principal shareholders are Changan Automobile and battery maker CATL. Huawei is a development partner but doesn’t own shares in Avatr.

Avatr launched the 11 in 2022. It was the first Avatr brand car. The Avatr 11 is a big SUV coupe with a wild design. The designer is Nader Faghihzadeh, an Iranian-German automotive designer who previously worked for BMW. The white color of the car in the photos contrasts nicely with the dark windows, window frames, and light units. The 22-inch wheels are massive!

Interior

Avatr 11 interior.

The interior isn’t as wild as the exterior. There is a load of real Nappa leather and high-quality trim. It has a 10.25-inch driver’s display and a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen. The operating system is Huawei’s Harmony OS. The vast center tunnel houses a double wireless charger, two cup holders, and lots of storage space. The Meridan sound system has 25 speakers and a peak power of 2016 watts. That’ll boom!

ADAS

The ADAS is Huawei ADS 3.2, an advanced L2+ system with 34 sensors: 13 cameras,  12 ultrasonic radars, 6 millimeter-wave radars, and 3 lidars (one in the front bumper, one on each front fender). The front fender sensor unit incorporates a lidar and a rear-facing camera.

Specifications

The design of the rear is brilliant, with a small rear window and a long rear deck. The 11 is a large five-seat car. The size is: 4895/1970/1601, 2975. It has a 495-liter trunk and a big 95-liter frunk. Avatr sells the 11 with two power trains: EV and EREV. The range extender variant is relatively new, it launched in late 2024 to capitalize on the sudden EREV popularity in China.

The car in the photos is the Ultra RWD Pure Electric, which is the base EV version. It is a rear-wheel drive single-motor car. The output is 237 kW (322 kW) and 396 Nm. The top speed is 200 km/h and it does 0-100 in 6.5 seconds. The curb weight is a heady 2310 kg. Under the floor lies a CATL ternary lithium battery with a 116.79 kWh capacity and an energy density of 190 Wh/kg. The consumption is 15.8 kWh/100 kilometer, which seems pretty good for such a large car. The range is 815 kilometers. The 11 is based on an 800V architecture so it charges fast: 30-80% in 25.2 minutes. It costs 339.900 yuan or $46.8K.

A special car with impressive technology for a decent price. The Avatr brand currently sells 3 models with a 4th one on the way. In February, Avatr sold 3785 cars, which was good for the 51st spot in the sales rankings in China.
