Some of the upgrades appear to be from Land Rover, like the roof rack, but others seem to be sourced from third-party companies. Where to begin? Let’s start with the mud flaps, I love mud flaps, mud flaps should be standard on every car. It has a luggage box, side bars with an integrated side board, black five-spoke alloy wheels, …
… blue brake calipers, a ladder, darkened windows, body-protection trim on the mirrors and bumpers, a ladder, …
… four exhaust pipe tips, more protection trim, black light units, a roof spoiler, and two tow hooks.
But the coolest bit is this see-through cover in the hood, showing the top of the engine.
The see-through cover is part of a larger hood, with a faux air intake and carbon fiber trim. The hood-cover combination is made by a Chinese company called Plumb. I hadn’t heard of it before, but their stuff looks pretty good. The Defender also has a bumper extension and four search lights above the windshield.
Interior
The owner did not change the interior. No need, I guess, as the beige leather looks fantastic. The only extra is the neck pillow. Kleenex alarm!
Power
The Land Rover Defender 90 is the 3-door short-wheelbase variant of the L663 Land Rover series. The P400 model is a mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV). It combines a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six in line with an electric supercharger. The output is 400 hp and 550 Nm. The top speed is 191 km/h, and 0-100 takes 6 seconds. That is without all the extra stuff. The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic with 4-wheel drive.
The mud flaps are gigantic, making the car a whole lot wider. Land Rover officially sells the Defender 90 P400 in China. It is an import with a big engine and a high weight, so it ain’t cheap. It costs 736.000 yuan or $101K. All the extras add at least another 5K. But I guess that’s with it. Just look at this Land Rover; what a great car!
