About Neta
Neta is a Chinese NEV (New Energy Vehicle) brand, owned by Hozon Auto. The Chinese name is 哪吒, Nǎzhā. The Neta brand launched in 2018. At the moment, the Neta lineup consists of 8 models.
Neta did reasonably well in China. In 2024, it sold 61592 cars, good for the 49th place in China’s sales rankings by brand. However, sales have crashed in early 2025 due to financial difficulties and a feud with dealers. Neta sold only 159 cars in January, 377 in February, and nothing in March. It is yet unclear if the brand can survive.
The Neta S debuted in 2022. The S is a mid-size D-segment sedan based on the Shanhai platform. It is a good-looking machine with a streamlined body. The drag coefficient is only 0.216 Cd. It has razor-sharp daytime running lights, hidden door handles, a light bar at the back, and almost-overly complex alloy wheels.
Neta’s interiors pack a lot of tech. Check that screen! It is a giant 17.6-inch unit. The S is furthermore equipped with a 13.3-inch instrument panel, an HUD, and a 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger.
Specifications of the Neta S
Neta offers the S with EV and EREV powertrains. Handily, the dealer stickers on the door reveal that the car in the photos is the EREV. It has a combined range of 1160 kilometers and an EV range of 310 kilometers.
The EREV RWD powertrain combines an 85 kW 1.5-liter four-cylinder range extender ICE with a 170 kW/310 Nm electric motor. The top speed is 185 km/h, and 0-100 takes 5.8 seconds. It also has a 45-liter fuel tank and a 31.7 kWh LFP battery. Fast-charging takes a while: 35 minutes for 30-80%. That is much slower than recently launched EREV sedans of competing brands.
Price
The Neta S EREV costs between 154.800 and 183.900 yuan ($21.2K – $25K). That is a decent price, but the competition in this segment of the market is ultra fierce. In 2024, Neta launched a wagon version of the S, but I haven’t seen any of those on the road yet. Let’s hope Neta survives its current troubles, because it is a great brand that makes cool Chinese cars.
