Volkswagen Bora-Golf Is A Red Oddity In China

Volkswagen Bora-Golf

One of the oddest car ever made by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture was the Bora-Golf, seen here in a very pretty shade of red in Beijing in 2011. It was actually called the Volkswagen Bora HS and based on the Mk4 Volkswagen Golf, it was made from 2006 until 2009. The HS had the front and rear lights of the facelifted first generation China-made Bora.

Peugeot 407 Coupe 3.0 Is The Front Overhang Champion In China

Peugeot 407 Coupe

A pretty Peugeot 407 Coupe 3.0, seen near a Peugeot dealer on a car market in Beijing. The Peug’ was in a fine shape, painted in a stylish shade of black with a light brown interior. It was a but dusty, but so is every car in Beijing.

Design of the 407 series was odd, mostly due to the enormous front overhang. This was so for the sedan and the wagon, but on the Coupe it looked even longer optically, and that was mainly caused by the three faux air-vents on the front-front fender, which only emphasized the giganticism of the overhang situation.

Here we have a very pretty Yunque GHK7071A Sports-4, seen in front of the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing in 2007. To see any Yunque is special, but one in red and fitted with the optional factory body kit was truly amazing. It made my month.

Volvo 850 Turbo Need Some Love In China

A dark blue Volvo 850, seen in the 798 art district in Beijing. The good Volvo was still used as a daily driver and that is always a great thing. It was in a reasonable shape but in dire need of some love and maintenance.  The Volvo 850 was manufactured from 1991 until 1997 with a facelift in 1994. Our blue Swede is a facelifted example, with the new grille, bumpers, and alloys.

Beijing-Jeep Grand Cherokee BJ2021G With White License Plates In Beijing

Beijing-Jeep Grand Cherokee

A Beijing-Jeep Grand Cherokee, seen on the road in Beijing in 2017. The big Jeep was dusty but otherwise in a good shape, and its best part was, without a doubt, the rare white 京·A MWZ-001 license plate.

Jonway UFO FD6392C Is Not A Toyota In China

Jonway UFO

This little pretty brown car is a real Jonway UFO, seen in Beijing in 2017. And that was very special. These never sold in big numbers in the Chinese capital, and lots of them have since been scrapped. Happily, this example was in a very fine shape, albeit covered with dust and some dirt. Nissan Cima Is A Classy Japanese Sedan In China

A beautiful black Nissan Cima sedan, seen in Beijing, capital of China, in 2017. The big Nissan was parked near a crappy-stuff mall I visited a lot and it looked somewhat out of place amidst the many small and cheaper cars. Note the special 7-reflector units inside the headlights, seen on the top-left of the unit, a feature the Cima was famous for.
