About China's Coolest Cars
Here we have a Haima 7X seen on the roads of the Chinese capital Beijing in the great summer of 2023. The good Haima was painted in a color called Beach White, with a crazy grille and sporty five-spoke alloy wheels. The owner put a sun reflector behind the windshield, and rightly so, as the hot sun was pounding on the MPV.

This is a Toyota Previa MPV, or minivan, seen on a sunny day in the Chinese capital Beijing. The Previa was in good general shape, painted silver with black window frames, with the original five-spoke wheels, and with black 京A license plates.

This is a Qoros 3 sedan in the south of the Chinese capital, Beijing. The old 3 was in great shape, painted white, and had the original multispoke wheels. Qoros was a Chinese car brand, owned by Qoros Auto Corporation, a joint venture between Chery Automobile and Israel’s state-investment fund Kenong Holdings. That was unexpected! On an almost abandoned car market in south Beijing, I found a Citroen C6 sedan, standing outside, unattended, painted in dark black and still with the original multispoke alloy wheels.

This is a Changan Lumin, seen on the parking lot of a Changan dealer in south Beijing. The Lumin is an electric minicar launched in 2022. The Lumin has a cool ‘cute’ rounded design with large lights, white aero wheels, black pillars, and pop-out door handles.

Many folks say electric cars are like washing machines on wheels. Most of the time, that is nonsense. But not with Xiaomi. This Chinese company is, in fact, proud of being a maker of all kinds of consumer electronics, including washers and electric cars. To check it all out, I went to a Xiaomi experience store in the basement of a large shopping mall in Beijing.
On a sunny day in summer, I went to a Hyptec experience store in the Hopson One shopping mall in central Beijing. The store had 3 cars on display: the Hyptec HT SUV, the Hyptech GT sedan, and the manic Hyptec SSR supercar. Let’s have a look.

This bizarre machine is the Li MEGA, a giant MPV with a wild and polarizing design. Even the color names are different than elsewhere. The one that I saw is painted in Elephant Gray. The other colors are Panda White, Gray, and Silver. Two colors with a special name, and two colors without. What to make of that? Well, what to make of of the Mega?

This little wonder is a Venucia R30, a small five-door hatchback sold only in China. I met this white example in Beijing, it looked great, painted in white and with five ‘spoke’ wheel covers. The Venucia R30 was based on the Nissan March.
