That was unexpected! On an almost abandoned car market in south Beijing, I found a Citroen C6 sedan, standing outside, unattended, painted in dark black and still with the original multispoke alloy wheels.
This is a rare DS 5LS 60th Anniversary Limited Edition, seen in Beijing in 2017. It was a great looker, painted in Champagne Gold with darkened windows and black window frames. The DS 5LS was a China-only compact executive sedan, manufactured from 2014 to 2019 by the Changan-PSA joint venture.
A black Citroen Elysee sedan, seen in 2015 on the Fifth Ring Road in Beijing. The Citroen had a very cool and very rare white license plate. That alone is worth a story, but this one was even more special because of its ZZX-001 sequence.
The Citroen Elysee was made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. It was an updated and restyled variant of the Dongfeng-PSA Citroen ZX Fukang, which in turn was based on the France-made Citroen ZX. Production of the Elysee started in 2002 and ended in 2008.
A wondrous white Citroen ZX Shenlong-Fukang 988 sedan, seen in the Wangjing Subdistrict in Beijing in 2015. The good old ‘Troen was in great shape, with fresh paint and shiny chrome, nothing broken or gone, and looking completely 100% period-original. Note the typical French single windshield wiper.
A rare Citroen c-Quatre 20 Years Edition, seen in Beijing in 2016. The special Frenchman was in a great shape, looking very classy. The Citroen c-Quatre was a compact car made in sedan and hatchback form from 2008 until 2016.
A pretty red Shanghai Maple JmStar Meilu SXE7130, seen near the Marco Polo Bridge in Beijing in 2011. The Shanghai Maple brand has a somewhat confusing history. It began in 2000 when the Shanghai motorcycle maker JM Star moved into car making.
Here we have a pretty white car with a long and complicated name. This indeed is a Citroen ZX Shenglong Fukang 1.6i AX, seen in Beijing in 2018, painted in white with the factory wheel covers.
A green Citroen Elysee VIP taxi, seen in the great city of Nanjing in Jiangsu province in China. The Elysee VIP was a long-wheelbase variant of the Citroen Elysee series, which was an updated Citroen Fukang, which was based on the Citroen ZX.
The Elysee VIP was made from 2005 until 2010 by Dongfeng-PSA. It was extended by 16 centimeters and powered by a 105 hp 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine. The VIP version was a popular taxi due to the extra space in the back. When I visited Nanjing way back in 2012 these long Citroen limousines were all over the place!
One you don’t see every day in China: a very rare Series 1 Citroen CX! We know that a small number of Series 1 was used as high-end taxi’s in Beijing in the early 1980’s. Considering this car’s yellow color, I assume this is one of those.
This is the new Citroen C4 Aircross, seen at a Citroen dealer in China. The vehicle looked ultra cool, with a white body, a black roof, an lots of bright orange detailing.
