Here we have a Kia Qianlima 1.6 GLS sedan, seen in Beijing in 2015. The good Kia was very dusty, and muddy as well, but in a fine overall shape. It was painted in a neutral shade of white and fitted with the original five-spoke wheels.
The Kia Qianlima, best translated as ‘Long Distance Race Horse’, was a small sedan made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture from 2003 until 2006.

A wild Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, seen in Guangzhou in China’s Guangdong Province. The sporty German convertible was fitted with an after-market body kit that looks both cheap and cool. The new body parts make the Porsche look so big and bloated that the wheels suddenly seem narrow and tiny. License plates are of Zhejiang Province.

A Toyota Camry sedan, seen in the far east of Beijing a couple of years ago. The good Camry was sadly in a pretty sad shape, with fading black paint and lots of cracks and dirt. Even the license plate has seen better times.

A pretty Renault Scenic, seen in Beijing in spring 2016. The cool French MPV was in une bonne forme for its age, painted in a light green shade of green and fitted with the sporty factory 5-spoke wheels.
A beige brown Shanghai Maple Haiyu sedan, seen in central Beijing in 2015. The old Maple was a bit dirty and dusty but otherwise in a reasonable shape, with the original wheels and with old Tianjin license plates.
The Shanghai Maple brand has a somewhat confusing history. It began in 2000 when the Shanghai motorcycle maker JM Star moved into car making.

And that day back in 2016 I was pleasantly surprised to find brand new radio-cassette players on the shelves of a Jingkelong supermarket in Beijing. They had two Panda-branded models. Panda is a famous Chinese electronics brand, making everything from robots to consumer electronics , including several cassette and CD players.

A black Volkswagen Magotan sedan, seen near Volkswagen’s former China headquarters in Sanlitun District in Beijing. The Magotan is a China-only sedan produced over several generations since 2007. The Magotan in the photo is a first-generation car, which was based on the Volkswagen Passat B6.
