A Zotye E200, seen at a Zotye dealer in Beijing in 2018. The Zotye E200 is a cool electric mini car with a hip design. It was launched on the Chinese car market in 2016 and sold very well. Sadly, Zotye’s 2021 bankruptcy also meant the end for the E200.

A cool Changhe Beidouxing X5E EV268, seen on a car dealer area in north Beijing in late 2019. The X5E looked nice in white with blue trim in grille and lights, which is very common Chinese on electric cars.
The Changhe Beidouxing X5E is an electric panel van. It is based on the petrol powered Changhe Beidouxing X5, which, in turn, is based on the first generation Suzuki Wagon R.

This is the Hongqi E-HS3, a cool electric crossover SUV from China. I saw it at a Hongqi dealer in the cold Beijing winter in late December 2020. It looked great in red with its huge shiny grille, the Hongqi hood ornament, and pretty alloy wheels.

A Beijing EV200 electric car, seen in a BAIC BJEV dealer in Beijing in 2016. The small EV looked nice in white, with minuscule wheels, blue detailing, and a bright red interior. Handily, the price was displayed on a display on the roof: 116.900 yuan, and after paying I could go home with that very car at that very moment. But I didn’t.

Here we have a Denza EV, seen in Beijing in 2016. The good Denza was painted in a shiny shade of white with darkened windows. The signature grille was shiny too, whereas the wheels were of a darker gray. The Denza EV is rare in Beijing so I was very happy to see this one in my own street.

A Tesla Model S, seen at a Tesla charging station in Beijing in January 2019 by Lao Wei, thank you for the picture! The Model S was wrapped in a matte pink rosé wrap, and further dressed up with darkened rear windows, dark headlight visors, and dark black wheels. Inside sits a female with a yellow cap on her head, it seems she is looking at her phone.
The wrap seems high quality and it is neatly wrapped around the whole car, leaving only the window frames and the door handles. Like in the rest of the world, Tesla only offers a very limited number of colors for their cars in China. Wraps are cheap so many Tesla’s get the wrapping treatment.
Current price of the Tesla Model S in 2019 started at 722.800 yuan, which was, and still is, very steep. The Model S never really took off in China but the X became quite popular. But Tesla sales really took off with the Tesla Model 3, and later on with the China-made Model 3.
A GAC Trumpchi AION LX electric crossover, seen in central Beijing in 2019. The nicely lined EV was painted white and fitted with gray ‘blade’ wheels. The GAC Trumpchi AION LX is a surprisingly rare car.

A Weiwang 407 EV, seen at sunset in the far east of Beijing in early 2020. The Weiwang 407 EV is an electric minivan with an aerodynamic body. Design is very nice, with a black ‘grille, secondary lights on each side of the grille, and the real headlights in the bumper.
